Betina Namukasa weighs in on the decline of Ugandan music

Namukasa explains that music enthusiasts lately ignore music with meaningful lyrics and that when someone releases impactful music, it is often suppressed and not given attention at all yet when someone drops a song with inappropriate lyrics they’re often applauded. The “Emikisa Gya Bakazi” singer notes that not until that situation is fixed, the Ugandan music industry is likely to take a dip for many years. She also explains that lately, most artists ditched the norm of singing good music and no longer care about what they musically feed their audiences. These days there is a tendency of people not paying attention to music with meaningful lyrics but when someone comes up with a song full of inappropriate lyrics, you find it trending all over.
