As part of Joburg Theatre’s annual tradition of celebrating Black History Month, the choice to present The Piano Lesson this year highlights the profound stories that continue to shape the African-American experience. The play, set in 1930s Pittsburgh, explores themes of legacy, family, and the burdens of history. Directed by James Ngcobo and choreographed by Lulu Mlangeni, the opening night of The Piano Lesson at the Mandela Theatre was a full house—audiences filled with anticipation and excitement.
