Seun Kuti began showing interest in music at the age of five and started performing with his father's band, Egypt 80, by the age of nine. Following Fela Kuti's death in 1997, Seun, at 14, assumed leadership of Egypt 80, continuing his father's legacy while infusing his unique style. He pursued formal music education at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and was part of the African funk ensemble, River Niger.
